"The Artist" trionfa ai Golden Globes tributati stanotte a Los Angeles. Il film muto in bianco e nero di Michel Hazanavicius,è stato decretato miglior film nella categoria commedia o musical, vincendo il premio anche per il miglior attore protagonista (Jean Dujardin) e per la colonna sonora originale. "The Descendants – Paradiso Amaro” di Alexander Payne , conquista il premio per il miglior film drammatico e il premio per il suo protagonista George Clooney.
Conquista il Golden Globe anche Meryl Streep per la sua interpretazione di Margaret Thatcher nel film “The Iron Lady”, e Michelle Williams per il ruolo di Marilyn Monroe in "My Week with Marilyn". Premiati anche Woody Allen, (miglior sceneggiatura per “Midnight in Paris”), e Martin Scorsese per la regia di “Hugo Cabret”. “Le avventure di Tintin” di Steven Spielberg, miglior film d’animazione. Tra i premiati anche Madonna per la miglior canzone del suo “W.E.”.
